Piano recital "From romantic visions to contemporary soundscapes" – Mia Elezović
Croatian pianist Mia Elezović will present to the Bulgarian audience a kind of anthological review of Croatian composers who have incorporated a "new" sound into their work. In addition to the works of Croatian composers, the program includes compositions by Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann. The aim of this concert is to contribute to cultural diversity and popularize contemporary Croatian music on the international stage.

Biography:
Mia Elezović began her international concert career at an early age. She has given numerous solo piano recitals and participated in various chamber ensembles throughout Europe, North and Central America, and Asia. As a soloist, she has performed with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Croatian Chamber Orchestra, and the Gaudeamus Orchestra. Among the conductors with whom she has successfully collaborated are Kazushi Ono, Pavle Dešpalj, Pascal Rophé, Peter Škerjanec i Zlatan Srzić, among others.
Mia Elezović is a frequent and prominent guest on radio and television programs in Croatia and Germany, and she has participated in many national and international classical music festivals. Among them are Music Biennale Zagreb, Hamamatsu Music Academy Festival (Japan), Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany), International Holland Music Sessions (Netherlands), International Keyboard Festival (New York, USA), Las Vegas Music Festival (USA), Meranofest (Italy), and others.
As a pianist with a refined ear and a strong sense of chamber music, she has collaborated with numerous distinguished ensembles and musicians, including the Zagreb Guitar Trio, Fabio di Càsola, Radovan Cavallin, Vlatka Pelhan, Jelena Očić, Charlie Siem, David Pia, members of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble, and "Le Train Blue".
After a successful audition in 2006 in Madrid, Mia Elezović was engaged as a solo pianist in the Spanish National Ensemble of Contemporary Music. Since 2011, she has been a member of the ensemble "Alisios Camerata", and since 2019, a member of the contemporary music ensemble "Synchronos". At the invitation of the famous tenor William Lewis and the French-American Vocal Academy of the USA, since 2012 Mia Elezović has spent every summer in Salzburg as part of a vocal program for young quartets, working on Mozart operas and Lieder, while also serving as the program’s director.
She has been a scholarship holder of several prestigious institutions: Fondazione Rome, Soros Foundation, Rotary Deutschland. She is a recipient of numerous international awards and recognitions.
In addition to her performing career, Mia Elezović is actively involved in teaching. He has taught young pianists at the Frankfurt International School, Alpha School of Music (Queens, New York), and the Bergen Academy of Music and Art (Oradell, New Jersey). From 2005 to 2006, he was an assistant professor in the piano departments at Kyoto University of the Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts, and the British School of Tokyo. She has taught at the Festivals “Terra Magica” in Poreč, the “Westfield-Summer Music Program” in Westfield, the Ross School in New York, USA, as well as the Euregional Chamber Music Festival in Maastricht, Netherlands. She has also taught at the Royal Conservatory in Liège (Belgium) and at the Academy of Arts in Split and the Academy of Arts in Osijek. In 2023 she is an associate professor at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek. She has served on the juries of several international piano competitions, including the “World Pianist Invitational” (USA), Maastricht Music Prize (Netherlands), “World Piano Teachers Association” (Poland) and “Una corda” (Croatia).
Pianist Mia Elezović graduated at the age of nineteen from the Academy of Music in Zagreb in the class of prof. Zvjezdana Bašić. She continued her education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and later continued her education in the class of Prof. Herbert Seidel at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. In parallel with her international studies, she successfully completed a master’s degree at the Academy of Music in Zagreb.
In 2004, the Japanese government awarded her a ten-month residency in Kyoto, during which she also visited Showa Academia Musicae and focused intensively on the piano works of contemporary Japanese composers. In 2007, Mia Elezović moved to New York City, where she received a full scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music and entered the Contemporary Performance Program, dedicated to the study and performance of works by contemporary composers. Two years later, she successfully completed the program, earning her second master’s degree.
