It is with great joy that we announce that in 2026, Varna will welcome the world-renowned tenor Plácido Domingo! The concert, scheduled for April 21, is organized in partnership by the Theatre and Music Production Centre Varna and the Municipality of Varna. This grand musical event will take place on the eve of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Varna Summer International Music Festival. On the stage of the Palace of Culture and Sports, alongside the legendary singer, will appear the soloists of State Opera Varna — Alexandrina Mihaylova, Ilina Mihaylova, Valeriy Georgiev and Reynaldo Droz. Maestro Nayden Todorov will conduct the Varna Symphony Orchestra. Stage director of the concert is Srebrina Sokolova.
Acknowledged as one of the greatest opera singers of all time, Plácido Domingo has over 150 roles and more than 4,400 performances in his repertoire. He is a twelve-time Grammy Award winner, has served as General Director of the Los Angeles Opera and the Washington National Opera, and also performs as a conductor. He is the chairman of the prestigious international opera competition Operalia, the most recent edition of which took place in Sofia this October. Plácido Domingo’s extraordinary artistic career has delighted audiences around the world for more than half a century.
