André Rieu

André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu is a Dutch violinist and conductor of Walloon origin.

He is known as the revivalist of waltz music worldwide. He achieved commercial success with his Johann Strauss Orchestra. In comparative terms, he elevated classical music to the level of the biggest pop and rock acts in the industry. He has been honored as a Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion (in the Netherlands), a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (in France), as well as with an Honorary Medal (in his native Limburg).
