Raina Kabaivanska was born in Burgas on 15 December 1934. Her father Jakim Kabaivanski ia a veterinarian, writer and university professor, and her mother is a physics teacher. As a child she starts playing piano and singing in the Children's Choir "Bodra Smiana." Graduated opera singing and piano at the State Conservatory "Pancho Vladiguerov." She won a scholarship to specialize and went to Italy in 1958. She marks the grand success in her performances on the world music scene and brought worldwide fame, singing in the opera "La Scala", Milan, which is among the world's most prestigious opera houses. Star of the New York Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Arena di Verona, the Bolshoi Theatre, Covent Garden, Carnegie Hall. Lecturer at Academy of Music in Italy and master classes at university. Much of the proceeds from the concerts Kabaivanska donated for scholarships for young musical talents. The talented Bulgarian founded also the fund "Kabaivanska" which grants scholarships for young Bulgarian talents.
